Zone ‘A’ league leaders FC Amagoro fail to find a winning formula against Kekalet FC

Busia Branch League Zone A leaders FC Amagoro faltered once again after being held to a 1-1 draw by Kekalet FC in the first match of the second leg played at Kekalet Primary School grounds today (Sunday).

It was the third match between the two rival clubs in a space of three months. FC Amagoro had lost 0-2 to Kekalet FC in the first leg of the league on December 23rd, 2023.

They went ahead to lose 0-1 to Kekalet in the semi-finals of the Cleo Malala Cup tournament.

Despite being held to a draw, FC Amagoro still tops the pack with 27 points from 12 matches. Kokare, which beat Korisai 1-0 on Sunday at home has dislodged Kakurikit Bullets FC with 25 points from 12 matches. Kakurikit is third with 24 points. Kokare won the first match beating Korisai 3-0.

In Zone A, Kiriko scored revenge, beating Okuleu FC 2-0 at Kiriko Primary School. Okuleu had registered a similar score in the first leg at Okuleu Primary School grounds.

Brian Etyang struck the first goal for Kiriko in the 47th minute after both teams battled to a goalless draw at the break. Ibui Mark put the issue beyond reach with the second goal in the 53rd minute.

In another zone A, league match, visiting Kamuriai FC, hammered Boca Junior 3-1 at Malaba Stadium, Achunet in Malaba Central Ward. It was Boca’s second loss after falling 0-3 to their arch-rivals in the last match of the first leg.

John Junior stunned hosts Bocar Junior with a 7th-minute goal before Barasa Lawrence leveled the score a minute later. L Levi Erokot made it 2-1 in the 11th minute before Junior scored his second goal in the 39th minute. It was sweet revenge following Boca’s 1-0 first-leg win at Kamuriai Primary School grounds.

In the Zone B League match, Olepito trounced Simuli Youths 3-0 in a seesaw encounter played at Olepito Primary School grounds before a large crowd.

The match started on a high note, with each team creating numerous scoring chances, but they went begging. With a minute to the first half, Olepito made it 1-0 through Abdulnassir Wameo.

Inspired by the goal, the hosts intensified their attacks to increase the tally in the 66th minute through David Odaling’a. He struck a brace four minutes to put the results beyond reasonable doubt.

In another zone B encounter, newcomers Sikinga Select collected maximum points after edging hosts Mabale United 2-1 at Mabale Primary School grounds to reverse the 0-2 loss they suffered before their partisan fans.

Austine Wesonga capitalized on an infringement to take the lead in the 43rd minute to make it 1-0 at the break. Benedict Otsieno leveled the score in the 46th minute before Eugene Tumbo sealed the score in the 73rd minute.

In other group B matches played on Tuesday, Outgrowers and Angorom FC drew 1-1 in the league match played at Mubwayo Primary School in Budalang’i. Fidelis Wanyama scored for Out growers in the 5th minute before Angorom equalised in the 32nd minute through Chrispinus Omayatta.

In the second match played at Buhuyi Primary School, Bosman Knights beat Nyumba Kumi 1-0 with Moses Odunya scoring the lone goal in the 9th minute.

Olepito Youngstars and Bosman Knights tie on the log with 16 points, but Olepito is topping by having a superior goal difference.
