Garissa County Governor Ali Korane has signed a MoU with the International Labour Organization (ILO) Prospect project aimed at creating opportunities for Youth in the county.
The project, which is meant to benefit host communities, will create employment opportunities, strengthen entrepreneur training and help youths have relevant skills for the job market.
The project will further create opportunities through a public employment programme similar to Kazi mtaani.
The Governor cited unemployment as the major challenge facing youths saying that such a project will open opportunities for job market and self-sustainability.
ILO’s chief technical advisor Caroline Njoke said the project will have a great impact in addressing challenges facing the youth in all sub counties in the county.
She noted that several youths have already benefited from the project by receiving training on welding at a Nairobi institute.
