World Vision International has donated a total of 1254 mattresses to vulnerable children in Tana River Sub-County.
Speaking at Mikinduni Location during the distribution exercise, the organisation’s Tana River Coordinator, Ms. Quitor Aoko, said according to a survey carried out by the Ministry of Health in Tana River, children sleeping on the floor without mattresses suffered from diseases such as pneumonia.
Ms. Aoko also said World Vision would also buy school uniforms for nursery school children aged five years and below, totalling 2,000 in Tana River Sub-County.
She said the NGO was working hand in hand with the Tana River County government to improve the enrolment of nursery school children.
Also present at the function was the county government’s Committee Member for Education, Mr. Abbas Kunyo.
