Women Empowerment will accelerate county’s growth

The  Kitui  Governor  Charity  Ngilu has restated the need to support women realize growth and influence development in the county.

Speaking at Migwani during the Parish’s Catholic Women Association funds drive, the Governor said empowering women was key to achieving development across the county.

Ngilu said her leadership will support women groups to start small businesses and enjoy quick access to business loans to promote entrepreneurship and create employment. “You need to be organized in women groups to get access to such funds,” Ngilu said.

She lobbied for their support and awareness on the Artificial Insemination programme that her administration initiated, saying it was time to embrace technology in modern-day-farming.

“Let’s embrace the subsidized tractor ploughing and appreciate the Artificial Insemination in raising the quality of beef and the quantity of milk,” she pleaded.

Ngilu said women were the embodiment of families and advised they stand firm for their families.

The  Governor was accompanied by the County Executive Committee Member for Tourism Sports and Culture, Patrick  Musau, Chief Officer, James Songolo, Value Chain Specialist, Dr. Temi Mutia, and the Area MCA, Phillip Nguli among other county government officers.
