Woman Rep Donates Food to Flood Victims

Kakamega Women Representative Elsie Muhanda has donated food and non-food items to families affected by floods in the county.
The items included 400 bags of maize, sugar, sanitary towels, masks, salt, mosquito nets, blankets, sanitizers and bar soaps.
Speaking Saturday while flagging off the consignment at Huduma Centre in Kakamega town, Muhanda said there was need to offer assistance to the victims.
She said that the donations were meant for those families whose homesteads and property was destroyed by the floods.
The legislator appealed to other well-wishers and donors to step in and complement efforts by the government to help cushion victims from the effects of floods.
The supplies consisted of 140 bags of sugar from Butali Sugar Company, while the Kenya Pipeline Company gave out sanitizers.
She issued certificates to 12 boda boda riders who are beneficiaries of a credit facility of the Kakamega County Maendeleo (Kacoma) Sacco.
“I urge residents to join the Sacco so that they benefit from the products offered by the cooperative society,” she asserted.
