A woman was killed and two others injured when a gang of robbers attacked Athi market, near Maua town last Wednesday.
The robbers armed with an AK47 assault rifle and an assortment of crude weapons raided a bar in the wee hours of yesterday morning, injuring the owner Ken Ndiine and killing his wife Hellen Gacheri, before taking off with Sh10, 000.
Igembe South Sub- County Police Commander Henry Onyango said one Phineas Gitonga was also injured in the fatal robbery.
“The gang brandishing an AK riffle and other crude weapons stormed the bar at the wee hours of yesterday morning and ordered everyone to lie down. They injured the bar owner and a reveler and killed his wife before taking away Sh10, 000,” said the Sub-county Police Commander.
The bar owner who is a member of the Meru Fire Rescue Team and the injured reveler are recuperating at Maua Methodist Hospital, while the deceased’s body was taken to Nyambene Level Four Hospital mortuary.
