Woman killed by crocodile at Roka in Tana River

A  45-year-old woman on Monday morning was killed by a crocodile at Roka Village in Masabubu location of Tana River County.

The 6am incident happened when the woman while accompanied by her three children was making her way to her farm by the river.

Confirming the incident, Tana River County Police Commander (CPC), Fredrick Ochieng said, the Masabubu Chief, Said Guyo Godha  who said, the victim identified as Mwanaharusi Koshi Mohamed was dragged deep into the river after the attack, reported the matter to the police.

Speaking  to  the press in his office, the CPC said, members of the public and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) personnel are on the ground tracking the crocodile that disappeared with the victim in the river.

Ochieng  also said, the search for the victim was still going on until the the body is recovered.

He  appealed to members of public to avoid farming activities near the river banks because the water levels have increased resulting into increasing movements of the crocodiles.
