A 35-year-old woman is calling on well-wishers to help educate her son who is yet to be admitted in Form One, three weeks after the form ones reported to school.
Rose Kwamboka, a mother of four who hawks snacks in Narok town to earn a living, said her twin sons had completed the primary education early this year where one scored 356 marks while the other managed 288 marks.
She told KNA that the one who scored higher marks was admitted to Kaplong boys in Bomet County while his twin received an invitation letter to join St Joseph’s Nyabigena boys’ in Kisii County.
Ms. Kwamboka said her little saving was used by one of the boys, who performed better than the other, leaving the other twin stranded.
“I used almost Sh60, 000 that I had saved to ensure one of the boys is admitted in school. However, I have exhausted all avenues where I could get money and I am not sure what to do with my son,” said Ms. Kwamboka.
The woman who earns from hand to mouth said her firstborn daughter is a Form Three student at Masikonde Secondary school while her last born child is a class five pupil.
Ms. Kwamboka revealed that her efforts to seek for assistance from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), county government and other avenues that issue bursaries were futile as she was turned down.
“I am honestly left without an alternative of getting money to take my son to school and I plead with well-wishers to help me educate my boy who aspires to be a civil engineer,” she reiterated.
According to the fees structure seen by KNA, the young boy by the name Jabali Barongo is supposed to pay Sh37, 000 as annual school fees among other expenses.
