Deputy Governor Dr.John Erus has affirmed commitment to support the county government partnership with the media and development partners operating in the county.
Erus said this in a communication/media consultative meeting with County public communication officers, governors press team, community radio, mainstream media journalists, communication development partners and county assembly communication team at a Lodwar hotel.
“As a county we will work closely and support the media especially community radio stations as well as fundraise through partners to support journalists in the county,” he said.
He also called on the media to uphold responsible reporting as he urged experienced mainstream journalists to support and capacity build local community journalists to help instill professionalism in the industry.
Director Public Communications John Emeripus called for support in budget allocation for the communication directorate as his Governor’s press counterpart Jeremiah Tukei reiterated Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai’s need to promote both local and mainstream media in the county through partnership for publicity and campaigns.
On their part, Panafricare Kenya Communication team assured the county government and journalists of their commitment and support through media engagements, capacity building and joint visits.
The Deputy Governor also took time to listen to challenges and insights by journalists in a plenary session where he promised to address mutual concerns that will see a strengthened partnership between the County Government and media going forward.
