We are ready to collaborate and support the future government- Sheikh Buya

The Office of the National Mufti of Kenya has urged political leaders and Kenyans to remain calm and accept whatever outcome arises out of the ongoing Presidential petition at the Supreme Court.

The National Chairman of the Mufti office under the Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council (KEMNAC) Sheikh Omar Buya called on Kenyans to maintain peace and accept the verdict of the apex court due on Monday, September 5.

Addressing the media in Mombasa, Sheikh Buya said peace and stability was vital for the country to move forward.

“We are faced with economic hardship and other challenges hence it is important for the country to focus its efforts to improve the lives of Kenyans,” noted the Muslim leader.

He said all Kenyans should have faith in the seven-judge bench led by Chief Justice Martha Koome to deliver a fair and just ruling.

“We are ready to collaborate with and support the future government of the day for the betterment of our country,” added Sheikh Buya.

He also commended Mombasa residents for voting peacefully during Monday’s gubernatorial election.

The cleric congratulated former Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir for being elected the new governor and urged him to serve Mombasa people without any discrimination.

He said his office would give Nassir full support as he embarks on his huge responsibilities to address numerous challenges facing the coastal city.
