Voters disappear after Baringo Senator votes

The polling officials at Tandui Primary School polling station were left idle after long voter queue witnessed in the morning fizzled out.

This followed the voting of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi at around 11 am where the voters who were on the queue left the polling centre.

According to the Presiding officer Edwin Kibet there were about 40 people queuing at the two stream center but as soon as Gideon Moi arrived there was excitement and soon after the people left following the senator.

“We hope they will come back and vote but for now we are idle,” said the Presiding officer.

The Baringo Senatorial race has attracted three aspirants with Gideon Moi keen on defending his seat from a harsh UDA wave currently being felt in Baringo and other parts of Rift Valley.

The biggest challenger to the second president’s son is the current Baringo North Member of Parliament and UDA aspirant Mr. William Cheptumo.

The third candidate is Felix Kiprono Chelaite of The Service Party.

Gideon Moi took over from his father the late President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi after being elected unopposed in the year 2002 for the Baringo Central Parliamentary seat.
