Vote tallying in the six constituencies in Narok County is on course with the exercise expected to be complete in the evening hours.
In the Narok North tallying station at Maasai Girls’ Secondary school, it is a beehive of activities as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials verify the results from the polling stations.
Hundreds of election stakeholders among them candidates, agents and the media are patiently following the verification process.
Long queues of ballot boxes are seen outside the tallying center as the presiding officers wait patiently for their turn to handover the election materials to the Returning Officer.
Security has also been beefed up at the tallying center and only those with official badges are allowed inside the tallying center.
Narok County Commissioner Isaac Masinde confirmed that no incident had been reported during the voting process and thanked the residents for maintaining peace.
Masinde called on the residents to embrace peace even after the leaders are announced, asking those who will lose to accept defeat and support the winners in developing the county.
He also asked residents to await the official results from IEBC instead of spreading unconfirmed results through social media.
The tallying for Narok East Constituency is taking place at Eor Ekule Secondary school, Narok West at Nkori Nkori Primary school while for Narok South at Arid Zone Primary School.
