Vihiga County Government is set to host a career guidance day for form four graduates anticipating to join tertiary institutions this year.
The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for education, science and technical training Dr. Ruth Agesa, says the forum is mainly targeting the first cohort of students who benefitted from the county government’s scholarship programme.
Dr. Agesa said the 96 beneficiaries who successfully completed secondary education last year will be joining universities and colleges starting May 2023.
The CECM stated that the forum to be held at Kidundu stadium on March 4, will see educationists and career guidance experts engage them on the content and the prospects of the various courses.
Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo has pledged to continue partnering with donors and well-wishers to enable more deserving cases to pursue education.
The governor disclosed that so far 599 learners have been sponsored since the programme started four years ago.
Under the initiative, the county government pays the entire fees, caters for personal requirements as well as pocket money of Sh. 3,500 and Sh. 4,000 for boys and girls respectively per term.
