Members of Vihiga County Assembly have revealed plans to impeach County Health Executive Mr. Amos Kutwa.
Led by the Chairperson of the house Public Service Committee Gladys Analo (Busali Ward), the ward representatives questioned the criteria Governor Wilber Ottichilo used to retain Kutwa as he suspended two chief officers under his docket over the irregular recruitment of over 500 health workers.
The two chief officers Dr. Arnold Mamadi (Medical Services) and Wycliffe Manyulu (Public Health) were suspended over allegations of being involved in the sham recruitment exercise last week following a cabinet reshuffle.
“We cannot understand the criteria the Governor used to retain Kutwa. He should take responsibility since he is the one in charge of the department and the whole mess happened under his nose. It is on this ground that I am going to table a motion of no confidence against the CECM,” declared Analo.
In a morning interview on a local FM radio station, the Governor was taken to task to explain the move to retain Kutwa in his cabinet by curious citizens.
Ottichilo explained that previous investigations had not shown any evidence to link the Executive with the irregular process.
However Ottichilo reiterated that does not prove innocence on the side of Kutwa promising to take action on him and others who would be linked to the illegal recruitment process in the ongoing investigations.
He urged the public to maintain calm and give investigating agents time to deal with the matter.
