Migori Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko has asked county teams that will be participating in the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) tournament to unite the country.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony of Migori team, Ayacko said that the tournament will help the country to unite after the long electioneering period of 2022.
He encouraged the participants of the tournament to seize the opportunity and interact with persons from other counties and help unite the country through the spirit of togetherness.
The governor urged the county team to be good ambassadors and represent the county in the best way possible to uplift the image of the county as well as its sports spirit.
Ayacko however noted that his administration will allocate more funds in the future to increase the teams that will be competing in the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports tournament.
Migori County Team will have seven discipline sports in the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) tournament that kicks off today in Kisumu.
“Let us make our county proud so that we can show the country how best our sports teams and structures are,” noted the Governor.
He said that losing and winning are the norm in any competition and the best way to be competitive is by learning from each game at every stage to help improve the team’s performance.
County Executive committee Member (CECM) for Education, Sports, and Culture Beatrice Samburu noted that passion for sports is key to sports talents.
She said that the county was already negotiating with the sportsmen and women from the county that play in national teams to start a sports council and help the county have a vibrant team in the future.
She emphasised that the county will reorganise the county tournaments in near future to help promote talent and team spirit for Migori youths.
