Unite For Development Mbatiany Urge Women to Unite

Bungoma Deputy Governor, Jenepher Mbatiany, has urged women to unite for economic, social and political empowerment.

Speaking at the inaugural Western Mulembe Women Conference at  the Masinde Muliro University in Kakamega, under the theme ‘Unleashing the potential of Mulembe Women’, Mbatiany hailed the organizers.

She emphasized on the need for women to put their differences aside and forge for development, to improve their living standards.

“I thank the organizers for convening this meeting, moving with structured conversation, a driving force towards molding women into prosperity,” she said.

She implored women leaders to be on the forefront in championing women issues, inclusivity in leadership and development.

“As leaders, we have a huge responsibility of ensuring women are well represented on matters of development,” she said.

Mbatiany urged women leaders to shun selfish interests which might make them forget serving the citizens.

The Deputy County Boss encouraged women to form productive SACCOS and groups at grassroots, in order to benefit from Women Development Funds at the County levels.

Mbatiany’s sentiments were backed up by other women leaders who affirmed their total commitment in ensuring that Western Mulembe Women reap good fruits of devolution, for self-reliance and stability.

The Conference underscored the crucial role of advancing the women agenda on empowerment, addressing the triple threat challenges affecting women in Western Kenya and resolved to cascade the empowerment of men at the grassroots level.

The Mulembe Women Caucasus was graced by the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalalia Mudavadi, among other invited guests and attended by over 1000 women from Western Kenya Counties of Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga and Trans Nzoia.
