Unfreeze my bank accounts, Gakuyo pleads

Bishop David Kariuki Ngari aka Gakuyo, is pleading with the Government through the Cabinet Secretary Industrialization and Cooperative Peter Munya to stop liquidating his wealth and also
unfreeze his bank accounts to enable him pay back the money he owes to the members of Ekeza Sacco.

Speaking to the media outside his church in Thika Monday, Gakuyo said that the decision by the CS Industrialization to stop him from selling his properties as he had previously envisaged so as to pay off his debtors was a big blow to him as he will not be able to pay his
creditors who he says EKEZA owed millions of shillings.

He said that EKEZA owed his clients is a total of Sh400 million and that he had already paid back Sh160 million to the members since his accounts got frozen and others have already been given land as they had agreed.

He requested the members of the Sacco to give him time and assured them that he would pay back all the money.

“Ekeza Sacco had employed over 5, 000 people supporting the Big 4 agenda of cheap housing and employment for the community. If this initiative is closed, all these people will be unemployed affecting their lifestyle and economic state,” he said.

“Political interference has played a big role in the woes currently facing EKEZA; my political enemies are fighting me in all areas to a point of sending goons to my church to cause distress pretending to be members of the Sacco,” he said.

He said that a Kiambu County MP and a former Governor were behind the dramas surrounding the Ekeza Sacco as they see him as a political obstruction for their 2022 political aspirations for Kiambu County and so they wanted to tarnish his name.

“I want to assure all Kenyans that I am not selling my properties so that I can flee from this Country as is being insinuated in the social media; I am a genuine person and a lot of people trust me and this is just a hiccup in business and once my accounts are unfrozen I will deal with my members and ensure we come to a favorable conclusion,” he said.

“The videos going around the social media by my political enemy asking people not to invest in Ekeza Sacco should not be given a lot of attention. For the longest time, I have worked with Kenyans and most of them can attest to my genuine good work,” he said.

Bishop Ngari was one of the major players in Kiambu 2017 political campaigns and was said to be amongst the biggest financiers of Governor Waititu’s campaigns.

He is also the proprietor of Gakuyo real estate and the Bishop of Calvary Church Ministries that has alarge following within Kiambu and Murang’a Counties.
