Kenya Kwanza Alliance’s (KKA) United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has bagged majority of Trans Nzoia County Assembly seats.
According to results declared from all the five Constituency tallying centres, UDA party, led by Deputy President Dr. William Ruto, scooped 12 out of the 25 MCA positions in Trans Nzoia County.
It outshined Ford Kenya (FK) in Trans-Nzoia County by clinching 12 out of 25 members of County Assembly MCA seats.
The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), which is affiliated to Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa won 7 seats followed by Ford Kenya with 3. Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) managed 3 seats.
For a long time, Trans Nzoia County has been perceived as Ford Kenya’s stronghold. However, the party’s performance in elective politics continues to dwindle.
“Undesirable development record remains the major underdoing for Ford-K. Residents feel the Ford-K leadership failed to steer the County’s economic growth and development ahead,” said Mr. Peter Asembo, a local political analyst.
Besides, the MCA seats, UDA is poised to produce the County’s next Senator and Woman Representative. Preliminary results from all the five tallying centres indicated UDA’s senatorial and woman representative candidates, Allan Chesang and Lilian Sioyi had trounced their opponents.
The County Returning Officer John Cox Lorionokou is set to officially declare results for Presidential, Governor, Senator, Members of National Assembly and Woman Representative this evening at Kitale Girls Secondary school.
