Uber has introduced a new membership program that brings together the best of Uber rides, delivery and groceries.
The membership program dubbed Uber One offers special pricing and exclusive perks and is more designed to help customers navigate everyday life by providing discounts and exclusive experiences across both rides and delivery.
Uber Head of East Africa, Imran Manji while speaking during the launch in Nairobi, said that the membership program provides customers with savings and an elevated experience in everyday moments.
“Whether it’s a ride to and from work, getting dinner on the table, or stocking the refrigerator, Uber One offers member-only upgrades, such as top-rated drivers on rides and premium support,” said Manji.
He said that for Sh280 per month or an annual price of Sh2800, Uber One members will enjoy 10 percent in credits on premium rides (Uber Comfort and Uber XL) and 5 percent on economy rides (Uber ChapChap) and Uber Boda.
“Other exclusive offers include zero delivery fee and up to 100 percent off service fee,” said Manji, who is also head of business development for Africa.
Manji divulged that hundreds of thousands of riders and consumers in the country collectively take advantage of the convenience, accessibility and sheer ease that Uber brands provide.
“We’re proud to keep building on this value with the deployment of Uber One,” he said, adding that Uber has revolutionized Kenya’s mobility and delivery needs since their launch in 2015.
Uber Eats General Manager Kenya, Kui Macharia, said they want customers to experience firsthand how Uber can make their everyday life more effortless.
“The program offers elevated access to all of Uber: rides, delivery, and groceries,” said Macharia, adding that “more than 25 billion trips later, they are building products to get people closer to where they want to be.”
She said members get preferred pricing, surprise discounts and delight perks that can make every day more fun.
“To join Uber One, open the Uber or Uber Eats apps. Tap on the account, followed by the Uber One module,” she said.
