Two suspects arrested with military uniforms

Police in Homa Bay County are still detaining two suspects who were arrested with military uniforms within Sindo Township of Kaksingri Central Location in Suba South Sub County.

The suspects, Harrison Ochieng’ and Manfred Nyaronyi Mirongo were arrested by the officers who acted on a tip off from members of the public that they were in possession of military uniforms.

Confirming the incident to KNA, Suba South Sub County Police Commander (SCPO), Richard  Cheruiyot said police officers  raided the suspect’s houses near Sindo trading centre and recovered assorted military uniforms, two pairs of military boots, one pair of flat shoes and a military bag.

Cheruiyot said that the uniforms nabbed were genuine military uniforms with the service number and a name tag of a military officer who has not been identified.

He said that they are suspecting that the uniforms could have been stolen from a military officer and then handed over to the suspects for unknown reasons.

The  SCPO added  that they suspect the duo have been carrying out criminal activities in the region using the military uniforms.

At  the same time, Cheruiyot said the suspects will continue being held for further interrogation over the matter before they are arraigned in court.
