Police in Ndhiwa Sub County have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a police officer in Kalwal village of West Kwabwai Location, Homa Bay County.
The suspects are linked with the brutal murder of Constable Felix Yegon, a Police officer attached to Kobama police post in Ndhiwa Sub County who was attacked and killed by irate members of the public last week.
The deceased was stoned to death by irate mob while his accomplice escaped in a suspected robbery with violence when they escorted a middle aged man to pick up his wife after separation within the village.
It is alleged that the officers who were in civilian clothes accompanied a middle aged man from Pala Koguta area in the same constituency who is suspected of being a notorious criminal to follow after his wife after they had separated due to domestic squabble but the two officers were unaware that the man was a criminal who had attacked and seriously injured his wife with a machete last month near Sibuoche village in the same location.
Confirming the incident to KNA, Homa Bay County Police Commander Esther Seroney said that the two are among the suspects who could have played a major role in the murder of the officer.
Seroney further revealed that they are still pursuing other suspects who are still at large and believed to have contributed to the killing of constable Yegon.
The two suspects are being held at Ndhiwa police station awaiting to be arraigned in court once investigations are finalized.
