Two Suspects Arrested Over Murder of Class Eight Pupil

Police in Mbita Sub County have arrested two suspects linked to the murder of a class eight pupil who was defiled and murdered two weeks ago at Waiga B village, in Nyamaji East Sub Location.

The suspects were arrested in the same locality where the minor resided with her family and are in custody while investigations on the murder continue. The deceased by the name Mary Achieng had sat for her KCPE exams at Got Rateng’ Primary School.

She was killed on the 3rd of April 2021 after being defiled by unknown people who afterwards dumped her body in a thicket near Waiga Water Pan and poured acid on her.

The Mbita Sub County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Commander Philip Sang’ said the two will undergo a DNA test to establish whether they had a connection to the crime or not.

Sang confirmed that the suspects will be taken to the government lab in Kisumu this week for DNA collection which will be tested against samples collected from the scene of the crime.

The suspects are detained at Mbita police station.
