Two people were killed when unknown assailants shot them at close range along Wabera road in Marsabit town on Tuesday night.
The assailants took away the man’s pair of shoes and one shoe from the woman they had eliminated.
The Marsabit County Police Commander (CPC), Steve Oloo said the victims were murdered at around 10:30 pm at Shauri Yako estate in Marsabit Central sub-county by criminals armed with an AK 47 rifle.
Oloo told KNA that preliminary investigations show that two men attackers were riding on a motorbike which they used to escape.
The CPC said the victims were a man aged 30 years and who operated a fish and food kiosk in town and his worker aged 23 years.
He added that their companion, Letisha Atieno who escaped death narrowly after she hid in a road ditch was assisting the police with investigations.
The CPC said those killed were not locals, adding that the motive of the murder was yet to be established.
Oloo added that the police collected thirteen expended cartridges of 7.62 mm special caliber at the scene.
“The man was shot on the head while the woman was shot twice in the chest and lower abdomen” he said, adding that the bodies were removed to Marsabit referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
He called on members of the public to pass over useful information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits to the authorities.
