Two police officers died on the spot on Monday, when the Tuk Tuk they were traveling in was involved in an accident with a Matatu along the Likoni-Lunga Lunga road in Kwale County.
At least 10 passengers aboard the Matatu were injured in the accident which occurred at Waa, according to Matuga Sub County Police boss, Joel Chesire.
Chesire said the deceased officers were on their way to work at a road block at Magandia area, when the tragedy struck, adding that their bodies were taken to the Coast General Hospital mortuary.
He said the Tuk Tuk driver sustained serious injuries. The cause of the accident was not immediately known but investigations have commenced.
The accident comes barely a day after another one in which a nine-month baby died and 27 students and their six teachers were injured after a school bus overturned along the same road.
