 Two people killed in a foiled livestock raid in Marsabit 

Two people were killed when an unknown number of armed cattle rustlers staged an attack in Forole location, North Horr Constituency in Marsabit County.

The 10am raid at Qubi Ella area that was foiled by security personnel also left one male herder with serious gunshot injuries on the chest.

Marsabit county police commander Martin Kibet said among the casualties were a woman aged 28 years and a 32-year-old herdsman.

Mr Kibet said quick response by security personnel managed to foil the stealing of a big number of livestock that were targeted by the rustlers believed to have

come from a neighbouring country.

The county commander assured wananchi of protection as the security agencies were on high alert.He added that security patrols have been enhanced in the area and commended the residents for passing on the information about the incident on time.

Kibet said the injured man who was undergoing treatment at Forole health centre was in a stable condition.

Marsabit county commissioner Paul Rotich said operation to get rid of armed militia and mop up of illegal firearms would be enhanced. He warned that nobody involved in hostile activities would be spared.
