Police officers in Rachuonyo East Sub County have launched investigation over the death of two men who were murdered and their bodies dumped at Koluoch Village in Atela Location of Homa Bay County.
The unidentified bodies were found lying by the roadside along Sondu- Borabu road with deep cuts on their neck and head, after being killed by unknown people Wednesday night.
Confirming the incident, Rachuonyo East Sub County Police Commander Charles Barasa said that the deceased who were in their early 50s were killed elsewhere by the suspects who later dumped their bodies at the village before they disappeared to unknown destination.
Barasa said that their preliminary investigation has revealed that the deceased persons were first strangled at the necks, before they were beaten with crude weapons to death.
He said that the two sustained severe injuries on their necks due to strangulation and had deep cuts on the head which indicated that they were hacked to death with crude weapons.
The police commander added that they have not revealed the identity of the deceased persons since they had no documents for identification.
He said that the motive of the killing has not yet been established and no suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident, while calling on residents with any relevant information regarding the incident to confide it to them.
The bodies have been taken to Rachuonyo Sub county Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
