Two people today sustained serious injuries after they were involved in an accident between a motorcycle and a trailer along the Mwingi – Thika road, near Osavinya petrol station.
The Mercedes Benz trailer was coming from Thika, headed to Mwingi town, while the motorcycle was being driven towards Thika from Mwingi, when the crash occurred.
On reaching the accident spot, the trailer disengaged from the prime mover and was moving backwards, when the motorcycle bumped into it and got trapped under the moving trailer.
The rider and his passenger were later removed from the scene and rushed to Mwingi level IV hospital.
The rider fractured his right leg and sustained injuries on his head and hands, which rendered him unconscious. The passenger sustained injuries on his legs and hands.
The driver of the trailer ran away from the scene of the accident immediately after the accident.
The Mwingi central deputy commander Nicolas Mutuma confirmed the incident and said that both the trailer and the motorcycle have been impounded and taken to Mwingi central police station.
