Two charged with possession of fake currency

Two people were Monday arraigned at the Kericho Law Courts charged with being in possession of papers and implements of forgery.

The two suspects, Dennis Kiprono Yegon and Diana Chepkoech, were arrested on March 5, 2019 at Kericho town after the vehicle they were travelling in was thoroughly searched.

During the search, police found 185 black fake Sh1, 000 notes, including two syringes, 50 ml iodine liquid, half liter, clear oil, one (1) cello tape and two (2) rolls of aluminum foil intended to resemble and pass as special papers used in making counterfeit Kenyan currency notes which were also found stacked inside a back bag.

Kericho Chief Magistrate Samuel Mokua ruled that the case would be heard on the November 13 and released the suspects on a bond of Sh100, 000 each.
