Two Administration Police officers and the driver of Homa-Bay County Deputy Governor Hamilton Orata have been arrested for allegedly killing a man in a bar within Ndhiwa Town two months ago.
The police officers identified as Lawi Mutali and Fredrick Makau Kimanzi, both police constables attached to the Deputy Governor’s residence located in Ndhiwa constituency and their accomplice the driver Alex Onyango were arrested Monday on the accusation of committing the offence on the night of April 27/28 this year at Status Lounge.
Reports claimed that the above suspects attacked the deceased identified as Abdinasir Abdulahi at the bar during the night when he went to drink whereby they descended on him with kicks and blows leaving him with severe injuries all over his body.
Abdulahi later succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Ndhiwa Sub-County Hospital.
Homa-Bay County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) commander Daniel Wachira confirmed the arrests saying the three were directly involved in the murder.
He added that they have completed investigations over the incident and submitted the files on their findings to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP).
Wachira revealed that the ODPP recommended immediate arrest of the suspects and for them to be charged with murder after going through the DCI findings.
The trio are being held at Homa-Bay Police Station awaiting prosecution.
