The government is not relenting on efforts to combat the coronavirus with 20 schools being prepared as quarantine centres in Marsabit County in case of an outbreak.
At the same time, over 30 frontline medical personnel were undergoing training in readiness to deal with a possible pandemic hit.
Marsabit County Commissioner Evans Achoki told KNA that the activities were part of a wider plan by the government in the control of the pandemic.
Achoki told KNA that management of the selected learning institutions were engaged in the preparedness.
This is in addition to the isolation centres with 15-bed capacities each that have been established in all sub-county hospitals of Laisamis, Moyale and Kalacha and the 20 bed capacity isolation ward at the Marsabit County referral hospital.
Sensitisation campaigns against the pandemic are also on course to enhance personal hygiene, sanitary standards and protective gears.
The County Commissioner disclosed that a surveillance team had been put in place to facilitate sharing of information on the virus as required.
