Tuskys Supermarkets bags Award in international fete

Tuskys  Supermarkets has been named ‘Brand of the Year’ in the supermarkets category in Kenya by the World Branding Forum at a ceremony held at the State Apartments of Kensington Palace, London, United Kingdom.

The supermarket chain was among six Kenyan companies recognized for their work and achievement and the improvement of standards in branding. More than 3, 000 brands from around the world were nominated for the awards this year.

Speaking on behalf of the retailer, Tuskys CEO, Dan Githua thanked the World Branding Forum (WBF) for the recognition and thanked the staff for their contribution towards this achievement.

“We are honoured to receive these awards among other great brands, and it is proof that the mechanisms we have put in place in terms of being an admirable brand and tax compliant company have borne fruits. I salute the dedicated team at Tuskys staff across the country for their dedication and commitment that has brought us this far,” said Mr. Githua in a press statement sent to newsrooms Thursday.

The  World Branding Awards is the premier event of WBF, which is a global, non-profit making organization dedicated to advancing branding standards for the good of the branding community as well as consumers. This includes those who work in the branding, design, marketing, advertising, public relations and communications disciplines worldwide.

WBF recognizes and celebrates some of the best global and national brands for their work and achievements. Winners are selected based on various matrices. They are uniquely judged through three streams; brand valuation, consumer market research and public online voting.

In the 2018-2019 World Branding awards, other local brands such as Kenya Airways, Kenya Power, Safaricom and Kenchic were also feted.

Previous Global winners of the WBF awards include Apple, Coca-Cola, Del Monte, Guinness, Heinz, HSBC, Louis Vuitton, McDonald’s, Mercedes-Benz, Samsung, Sony PlayStation and VISA.
