Turkana County Government, through the Department of Health and Sanitation, has partnered with Marie Stopes International (MSI) Reproductive Choices to improve access to family planning and reproductive health services in Turkana West Sub- County.
The project, funded by UNFPA, will focus on supporting four health facilities in refugee camps and host communities. It aims to provide mentorship for healthcare workers on handling reproductive health cases and conduct quality assurance sessions.
While opening the meeting, Chief Officer for Medical Services Dr. Ezekiel Etelej welcomed the partnership and emphasized the importance of addressing gaps in reproductive healthcare.
“This collaboration is timely and crucial in bridging the existing gaps in reproductive healthcare. We must ensure that every woman has access to quality care,” he said.
MSI Reproductive Choices presented findings from an October assessment of services in 20 facilities across Kakuma and Kalobeyei wards.
The findings highlighted skills gaps among healthcare providers, informing the program’s priorities and activities.
