Turkana leaders condemn Napeitom killings

Leaders in Turkana County have condemned Sunday night incident where eight people were burnt to ashes in their houses in Napeitom, Turkana East Sub County.

The leaders blamed suspected bandits from neighbouring Tiaty, Baringo County for the heinous act.

ODM gubernatorial candidate Jeremiah Lomurukai called on the Cabinet Secretary for Interior to intervene and ensure the safety of residents.

“Why are we as security officers and leaders watching as our people are being killed by fellow Kenyans? Security agencies must address this issue,” said Lomurukai.

On her part, Turkana Woman Rep candidate Cecilia Ng’itit also condemned the killings and called on security agencies to speed up investigations and ensure the perpetrators face the full force of the law.

“I wish to condemn with the strongest terms possible the attack meted on the people of Napeitom village in Napeitom Ward, Turkana East by suspected bandits,” she said.

County police commander Samuel Ndanyi said police still pursuing the matter when contacted by KNA. He said he would issue a report on the matter later.
