The National Assembly Select Committee on Constituency Development Funds have urged the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury Ukur Yatani to fast track the disbursement of funds to the CDF Board to ensure that development projects are implemented.
The team led by their Chairman Emmanuel Wangwe blamed the National Treasury for delaying disbursement of funds to the CDF Board hence delaying development projects.
“The delay is not normally by the board, what normally happens is the Treasury taking a long time before disbursing funds,” he said adding that the new CS should look into reality and ensure that transfers are made as quickly as possible so that the Board can transfer the money downwards.
Wangwe who was accompanied by other members including Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi to inspect projects funded by CDF said the most important thing is how the funds are utilized.
The MPs visited Matayos constituency to benchmark on the projects funded by CDF especially education.
“The area MP for Matayos has been very instrumental in the house and we are here to see the project he has implemented and learn from them,” said Wangwe.
The team visited St. Jude Nang’oma Secondary, Mundika, Lung’a Primary school in the company of the area MP Geoffrey Odanga.
They plan to visit Likuyani constituency on Thursday.
