Transport Stakeholders to comply with MOH Guidelines on Covid-19, CS Macharia

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has advised transport operators and commuters to comply with the MoH Covid-19 containment measures to prevent contagion during this festive season.

In a press statement to newsrooms today Mr Macharia expressed concern over the spike  in the number of Covid-19 cases being  reported in the country lately and therefore called on the transport industry players and commuters to observe physical distancing, wear face masks, use  sanitizers, wash hands regularly and avoid crowded places.

“For international travelers, Pre-Travel Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Tests are now a standard requirement. Hence those traveling outside Kenya are urged to familiarize themselves with the country-specific Covid-19 requirements,” the CS said.

He also advised those yet to be vaccinated against Covid-19 to go for the jabs in order to protect themselves from the deadly virus besides supporting the government’s effort in enhancing the uptake of Covid-19 vaccines.

The CS likened his clarion call of a pervasive Covid-19 vaccination drive to the Transport Sector Rallying Theme of ‘Pata Chanjo, Tuimarishe Usafiri’ that is aligned, to the National Rallying Theme of ‘Pata Chanjo, Tufungue Nchi’.

“The Ministry jointly with stakeholders will soon evaluate the government’s proposal that requires public transport users to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination,” he stated.
