Transport paralysed and residents stranded after bridge collapses

Residents of Lominingai Location, Kilibwoni ward, Emgwen constituency in Nandi County have been stranded for a week now after a bridge linking Mosoriot- Lessos road collapsed on river Kesses.

According to a resident, Joel Kiptanui, since the bridge caved in, school going children, farmers and milk vendors have experienced difficulties in accessing basic facilities.

“This bridge borders two constituencies of Emgwen and Chesumei. It also serves school children traversing eight schools within the area,” said Kiptanui.

Kiptanui  told KNA that a few residents have sacrificed to be helping the school children cross the river to and from school.

They now call upon the leaders responsible to take action and help construct another bridge since they were currently using an alternative route through Moi University that is taking longer to reach their destination.

Farmer, Paul Saina says since the bridge caved in, no leader has turned up to find a solution to the current challenge facing the residents.

“We currently have a make shift bridge that we fear may claim lives since the river beneath can overflow causing a disaster,” explained Saina.
