Traffic court to sensitize public on road safety

Milimani Traffic Court jointly with stakeholders will from Wednesday March 20th to Friday 22nd March, hold a Traffic Open Day to sensitize members of the public and other road users on road safety.

The exercise themed: ‘Kaa Rada Kwa Rodi’ intends to seek ways to enhance road safety and minimize accidents and traffic offenses in the area.

The activities lined up for the Open Day include a caravan on specific roads in Nairobi on Wednesday March 20 and Thursday March 21, and a procession, speeches and public interactive sessions on Friday March 22, at the Kenya National Archives.

A directive from the Directorate of Public Affairs & Communication in the Judiciary has highlighted in detail the specifics of the three-day event.

On Day 1, 20/3/2024, the caravan starts from Milimani Law Courts to Kangundo Road via Ngong Road, NHIF junction, Haile Selassie Avenue, Haile Selassie – Uhuru Highway roundabout, Moi Avenue roundabout, New Pumwani Road roundabout, Landhies road, Jogoo road, Donholm, Outering road, Taj Mall, North Airport Road, and Eastern Bypass to Kangundo road junction.

On Day 2, 21/3/2024, the caravan will start from Milimani Law Courts to Moi Avenue roundabout via Ngong Road, NHIF junction, Haile -Selassie Avenue, Haile -Selassie – Uhuru Highway roundabout, Moi Avenue roundabout, Choo No. 8, New Pumwani Road Roundabout, New Pumwani Road, Ring Road, Pumwani, Juja road, Outering road, Allsops, CBD through Super Highway, Murang’a Road, Globe Overpass, Tom Mboya Street, Ronald Ngala, Moi Avenue and Moi Avenue roundabout.

Finally, on Day 3, 22/3/2024, there will be a procession from Milimani Law Courts to the National archives through Ngong road, Kenyatta Avenue, Nyayo House roundabout, Moi Avenue, Moi Avenue service lane to Kenya National Archives.

Some of the stakeholders who will participate in the event include traffic police, NTSA, County Government, ODPP, Kenya Prisons, among others.

School children safety, reckless driving, hand carts, drunk driving, avoidance of footbridges, jumping over guard rails, not prioritising pedestrians at zebra crossings, hawkers taking over footbridges are some of the concerns identified by stakeholders.
