It is good news and a sigh of relief for the parents of the top Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate in Nyeri, after the Mathira Member of Parliament (MP), Rigathi Gachagua, offered to pay for her full secondary education.
Margaret Waruguru Mwangi, 13, who was schooling at Karatina DEB Primary School, garnered 430 marks in 2020 KCPE, to emerge best in the County and eighth nationally.
Her parents had approached the MP, requesting him to take over her education financing given their meager resources.
“I have accepted their request to take over her education and I have undertaken to pay her full school fees for the next four years,” said the Gachagua.
The Legislator who was speaking at his Mathira home when he hosted the candidate and her parents for a luncheon to celebrate her exemplary performance, said she needed all the support she could get to help her realize her dream of becoming a lawyer.
“The young girl made us proud and lifted the name of her school and the Constituency at large,” the MP noted, adding that it was an honor for him to have been given a chance to help her realize her dreams.
The young girl hope to join Alliance Girls High School which was her national school of choice.
