Munyiri, 13, scored 440 marks out of a possible 500 marks which he attributed to God’s favour, support from his teachers and family members.

He  was schooling at Damacrest Academy in Uthiru, Nairobi County but hails from Maragima village, Kieni Sub-county in Nyeri.

“I  attribute my success to prayers, support and encouragement from my teachers and family,” Munyiri said during a courtesy call to Nyeri  governor, Mutahi Kahiga. The teenager wants to become an automotive engineer and wants to join  Alliance Boys High School.

Governor  Kahiga  praised the young man and urged him to be a role model to others in the county and the country at large.

He promised that the county government would meet all his school fees and other requirements in school as a way of motivating other pupils to work hard. “We will pay all your school fees because you have done us proud by becoming a first in the country,” Kahiga said.

Munyiri  urged future candidates to trust in God, work hard and respect teachers and parents to succeed in the academic life.
