The Kirinyaga Deputy Governor, Peter Ndambiri has advised local leaders to stop engaging in endless political bickering.
Ndambiri said since each elected leader had his or her constitutional mandate to discharge, there was no reason for conflict of interest that seems to produce political tension.
He observed the political tension witnessed in the area since Wednesday was unhealthy and detrimental to development.
“We have the County Assembly and the County Government whose representatives are all elected leaders, each with a clearly defined constitutional mandate to discharge as prescribed therein and I therefore do not understand what all this hostility is about,” he said.
Speaking on Monday after donating an assortment of foodstuffs to 35 members of the Episcopal churches in the area for onward distribution to ten of their most vulnerable congregants each, Ndambiri said the energies and efforts spent on insulting one another should be directed to the fight against corona pandemic.
“Am worried about the prevailing tension and standoff between the MCAs and the County Administration which has dominated the better part of this month at the expense of service delivery,” he said.
Ndambiri also said any one bringing development to the area should be welcome wholeheartedly since he or she would not be doing it for personal gain.
“If our Interior Principal Secretary, Dr. Karanja Kibicho or his Infrastructure colleague, Prof. Mwangi Maringa comes around to launch or inspect national projects in the area, they are doing so on behalf of the Head of State who appointed them to these positions,” he noted.
He said using hired youths to insult Dr. Kibicho who has every right to visit the area in his official capacity and as his home county is unacceptable and ridiculous.
The foodstuffs will benefit 350 families in the entire county for three days and was donated by Ndambiri and his family as their contribution towards the fight against corona pandemic which has left churches closed down.
The leader of the Priests present, Bishop Maina Gathara commended the Ndambiri family for their good gesture towards the needy and vulnerable in the community.
