Kiambu Town National Government Constituencies Development Funding (NG-CDF) is funding construction of a modern two-storey block comprising six additional classrooms at Ting’ang’a Model Primary School which is near completion.
According to Kiambu Town Member of Parliament, Machua Waithaka, the new classrooms are expected to address congestion while providing learners with more spacious facilities for their studies.
Alongside the construction of the new block, existing classrooms at the school are undergoing renovation where the works include replacement of old roofing, windows and doors as well as installation of floor tiles in the classrooms.
This improvement has also extended to the school compound where cabro paving is being undertaken to provide improved walkways and upgrade the general condition of the institution’s grounds.
Security infrastructure is also being improved through the construction of a perimeter wall around the school and installation of a modern gate.
The Kiambu Town National Government Constituencies Development Funding (NG-CDF) has continued to support education through the bursaries and infrastructure development project aimed at strengthening public learning institutions across the constituency.
According to Kiambu Town NG-CDF Constituency Manager Aloysius Njoroge, the project is part of ongoing investment in improving public school infrastructure to provide learners with a safe and conducive learning environment.
“There have been potholes in classrooms and leaking roofs forcing learners to crowd in one corner during rainy days, which was inconvenient for both teachers and learners. The rainwater would even destroy their books since most of them left them at school,” said Njoroge.
Njoroge explains that the perimeter wall is a key component because it will help secure the school compound and protect learners from outside distractions and exposure to drug related activities.
“We remain committed to transforming our schools and investing in safe, modern and conducive learning environments for our children,” Waithaka remarked
The developments at Ting’ang’a Model Primary School are part of a wider focus on education infrastructure by Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka across public schools in the constituency.
Other public schools in the constituency have also benefited from Waithaka’s education infrastructure initiative, such as Tiara Primary, ACK-KIU River Comprehensive School, Kiambu Primary, Ndumberi Primary School and Kangoya Primary School.
The completion of the works is expected to improve the learning environment, upgrade the existing facilities and strengthen security as part of the on-going efforts to improve public schools in Kiambu Town constituency.
