Tinderet MP retains his seat

Tinderet Member of Parliament, Julius Kibiwot Meli of UDA has retained his seat.

The two term Legislature garnered 38,715 votes against his close competitor Malakwen Samwel of PDU party who got 2,275 votes.

The results were announced by Constituency Returning Officer, Daniel Cheptot, who thanked the residents for being patient and calm during the counting exercise.

The overjoyed Meli thanked his constituents for giving him another chance to serve them, saying he will not let them down

“I will do my best to transform Tinderet and initiate various development projects to uplift the living standard of the people,” he said

Elsewhere, former Deputy President William Ruto’s aide, Maryanne Kitany, is the new Aldai Member of Parliament (MP), after garnering 42,015 votes.

Kitany floored the incumbent MP, Cornelius Serem, who scored 13,309 votes. The results were announced by Constituency Returning Officer, Frank Boinett.

Other candidates in the race include Nolega Nanduya who got 1,676 votes, Jacob Kiprop Koech with 801 votes and Thomas Samoei who scored 668 votes. The total cast votes were 58, 469.

Nandi County has Six (6) Constituencies namely Nandi Hills, Mosop, Chesumei, Emgwen, Aldai and Tinderet Constituency.
