Three people died on the spot and one sustained serious injuries on Monday, when a vehicle they were travelling got a tyre burst along the Wote – Makindu road in Makindu Sub-county.
The injured person was rushed to Makindu level 4 hospital for treatment.
The Makueni County Commissioner (CC), Maalim Mohammed said the accident occurred at Kizingo area along the Wote-Makindu road.
“The accident involved a Nissan registration No. KCB 724T that rolled several times after the tyre burst before landing in a ditch, killing the driver, conductor and a passenger on the spot,” said Mohammed.
The county commissioner cautioned motorists to observe traffic rules in a bid to avert loss of lives especially during this festive period.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Makindu Level Mortuary for preservation while vehicle that was extensively damaged was towed to Makindu police station.
