Three more suspects linked to assault of a chief arrested in Kilifi

Three more people, including a woman, have been arrested on suspicion of participating in the stoning of the chief of Shariani location, in Kilifi county two weeks ago.
Kilifi County police commander, Fredrick Ochieng said the arrest of the three namely Nelly Masika, Safari Katana Kaingu and Kassim Katana bring the number of those arrested to 18.
The police commander said, while accompanied by the area assistant chief and police officers, Chief David Kahindi was attacked and injured on the head and leg by angry mourners when he tried to stop the mourner’s night disco matanga, leaving the police officers and the assistant chief with minor injuries.
The police commander said, “as stated earlier by the government, disco matanga will remain banned. The operation will still be on, and anyone found breaching the directive will face the law.”
