Three men were Friday arraigned before a Mombasa Court charged with impersonating Kenya revenue authority employees in an attempt to defraud a businessman of Sh 600,000.
The three who appeared before Mombasa Senior Resident Magistrate Martin Rabera were accused of pretending to be in a position to manipulate the KRA system to clear a tax debt of Sh1 million owed by Ali Sheikh Abdulrahim.
The three, Daniel Ojwang Achoka, Peter Derrick Maseghe and Mwema Sammy alias Elisha Pascal pleaded not guilty.
They were faced with three counts of impersonation, false pretence and intent to defraud a taxpayer Sh600, 000.
The court was told that the three presented false KRA identification cards number 7541, 7764, and 7226.
They were also in possession of KRA VAT 78 A bonding books of receipt numbers 38500 to 38551, and 40223 to 40271 purporting to be official documents issued by Kenya Revenue Authority.
Mr Rabera released the accused on a bond of Sh500, 000 and surety of the same amount each.
The case will be mentioned on 8th September 2020.
