Police in Kilgoris are holding an Anti-Stock theft unit officer over shooting of three people in the volatile Angata Baragoi area in Transmara West, Narok County.
The police officer is said to have ran amok on Sunday evening shooting the victims at random, according to area Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Hassan Noor.
One of the three shot has since been treated and discharged while two others are still receiving treatment at Kilgoris and Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospitals, stated Noor.
A medic at Kilgoris said the patients sustained wounds in the legs and hands but confirmed they are out of danger.
Noor said investigations have begun into the shootings and the officer will be arraigned in court as soon as the investigations are compete.
He urged the local residents to stay calm as investigating officers delve into the matter.
The location chief, Paul Ruto said the officer was armed with an AK rifle and appeared irritated.
At least five youth in the area were recently shot following an eruption of clashes as the government deployed GSU and ASTU officers to quell the violence.
