Police have arrested three people for attempting to defraud an agrovet shop of Sh277, 248 in Wote town, last evening.
The three were arrested following a tip-off from the public after they presented a fake cheque to the proprietor of Makamithi Agrovet shop where one of the suspects had purchased goods worth the amount on Monday.
Confirming the incident County Police Commander, Joseph Ole Naipeyan, said Paul Kimani (38), Grace Wambui (28) and Nelius Kinyua (39) are being held at the Makueni Police Station and will be arraigned in court once police complete investigations.
According to Ole Naipeyan one of the suspects Kinyua had paused as a customer and ordered goods valued at Sh277,248 at the agrovet shop and promised to collect them on a later date.
