Three suspected Al-shabab militia died on the spot after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) they were trying set up detonated.
The militants who had developed a habit of planting the explosives along highways where Kenyan forces were likely to travel got a dose of their own medicine during their evil mission in the outskirts of Fafi trading centre in Garissa county
Preliminary reports into the incident indicated that the militia were planting the IED device on the sandy road hoping to blow up a security vehicle plying the route when the safety pin tripped and exploded on their faces
The Sub County Police commander Mr. Ogalo Francis confirmed the incident and cautioned the residents against using that route but instead pass Bura in Garissa County because the militia easily used the sandy road to erect IEDs.
He appealed to herdsmen to report to the security apparatus manning the area any suspicious persons or activity they may come across.
