Thirteen students in Busia benefit from Faridi Sacco scholarship foundation

13 bright, needy students in Busia County have been selected to benefit from the Faridi Sacco full scholarship to see them through their secondary school education.

The 13 drawn from 8 subcounties were the lucky pioneers of the scholarship, which comes as a game changer to a few who might have missed out on other scholarships this year.

Speaking in Busia during the launch, Faridi Sacco CEO Dismas Esemai said that this is their first scholarship since they were incorporated, and the selected 13 students will be the pioneers of the program which targets to uplift the vulnerable in society.

“We selected these 13 who will pioneer our scholarship program. The process was free and fair involving players from multiagency sectors; hence, I ask the beneficiaries to seize this opportunity and maximize it so that they can benefit from the scholarship,” said Esemai.

He urged the students to take the chance seriously so as to achieve what they want to be in the society noting that as Faridi Sacco they expect the students to succeed.

The sentiments were echoed by Busia County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto, who applauded the Sacco for the good gesture that aims to transform society.

“This is a milestone since it is the first scholarship to be given by Faridi Sacco, and the selected 13 students are our torch bearers owing to the fact that education is the only equalizer in society,” said CC Ruto, reiterating the government’s commitment to ensuring 100 % transition from primary to secondary school.

Ruto challenged parents in Busia to take initiative and support their children while at school through the payment of school fees for the smooth running of the school.

On the other hand, the CC said that as county security chairperson, he will not condone night vigil disco music as it has been a contributor to poor results and unwanted pregnancies among school-going children.

“We have tried to stop the night vigil music, but the county government is contradicting since they give permits for those discos and this hinders our operation, I ask the county government to work together with us so as to protect our children,” said Ruto.
