As the Christmas season fills the air with love and generosity, a group of elderly people and street families got some reason to smile after a local professional stylist and barber treated them to a unique gift of free haircuts.
Elizabeth Nyambura, a professional stylist and barber, took her Mobile barber services to the streets and homes of the elderly, reaching over 50 individuals, including street children, elderly people, and drunkards, among other people within Thika Town.
Nyambura, driven by her desire to give back to the community, said the good gesture sought to put a smile on the disadvantaged in the community during the festivity.
“This event was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of those who feel forgotten. A simple act of kindness can bring hope and encouragement,” said Nyambura during the event.
She called on well-wishers to contribute their skills and time, highlighting that giving does not always have to involve money or material gifts.
Lydia Githatu, a Thika resident, lauded the initiative for its positive impact on the community.
“We can borrow a leaf and impact positively on the less privileged during this Christmas period. It’s a way to bring love and hope to the whole community,” Githatu said.
The beneficiaries, led by Peter Gitau, could not contain their excitement and gratitude and shared his heartfelt thanks.
“I am very happy and thankful because I had no money for a haircut. It has been three years since I had a proper one,” he said.
Another beneficiary, Jackson Njage, expressed similar sentiments, describing the fresh haircut as a much-needed boost to his morale; he also appealed to well-wishers to continue supporting such initiatives, especially during the festive season.
